A Woodland Hideaway on the Isle of Wight

Tucked away within ancient woodland at Camp Corve, Squirrel’s Den is a peaceful lodge designed for guests who want to slow down and reconnect with nature.

Located near the village of Chale, on the island’s scenic southern coast, the lodge sits within the Isle of Wight National Landscape, surrounded by trees, wildlife, and gentle countryside sounds. From here, you’re perfectly placed to explore coastal walks, rural footpaths, and some of the island’s most dramatic viewpoints.

Within a short drive, you’ll find the cliffs and attractions of Blackgang Chine, the historic St. Catherine’s Lighthouse, and scenic walking routes such as the Chale Trail, which leads to landmarks like the Pepperpot.

We had an amazing time on the Isle of Wight and the Squirrels Den was the perfect base. Comfortable, cozy and surrounded by nature. Hamish and Erin made sure we had everything we could need, including for our 5 month old on his first holiday! A nice secluded spot but easy access to all parts of the island. We even saw the promised red squirrel! Thank you so much for having us. We will recommend you whenever we get the chance.

Comfortable Living with Nature at the Door

Step inside Squirrel’s Den and you’ll find a warm, welcoming space designed for relaxed, easy stays. Large windows frame views of the surrounding woodland, bringing the outdoors in and filling the lodge with natural light.

The open lounge is the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring, with a comfortable sofa and TV for cosy evenings in. The compact yet fully equipped kitchen has everything you need for simple self-catering, whether you’re cooking breakfast or preparing a relaxed dinner.

Sleeping arrangements include a bunk room with two sets of bunk beds — ideal for families or small groups — with direct access to the garden, as well as a peaceful main bedroom featuring French doors that open onto a private decking area overlooking the trees.

A modern shower room completes the layout, offering comfort and convenience throughout your stay.

We had an awesome time staying at Camp Corve. The cabin is comfy and cosy, we watched red squirrels from inside and enjoyed doing yoga on the deck and lighting fires each night. The skate park on site is awesome, and we really enjoyed doing the public sessions and organising some private ones too. The owners on site are lovely and super helpful, and the location of the site is fab, with walks nearby and everything a short drive away (including some surfing!). Would highly recommend x

Private Outdoor Space, Fire Pit Evenings & On-Site Adventures

One of Squirrel’s Den’s standout features is its private outdoor space. Step outside and you’ll find decking and a gravelled garden area surrounded by woodland, with multiple seating spots to relax, read, or simply listen to the nearby stream.

As evening falls, gather around the fire pit for quiet nights under the stars — a favourite feature for guests looking to truly switch off. The setting feels secluded and calm, yet you’re still just moments from everything Camp Corve has to offer.

Guests staying at Squirrel’s Den also have easy access to the on-site Canopy Skatepark, as well as a network of local footpaths and countryside trails right from the doorstep.
